Hi everyone!
I am excited to announce I will be teaching three new classes, starting March 13th at the new community yoga studio right in the heart of the village – Fernwood Yoga Den, 1311 Gladstone Ave. It will be great to see you there, and please spread the word to friends and family!
One of things that I feel really excited to support is that the wonderful owners of this studio – Rachel Sadvana and Lola Storry – are passionate about creating access for everyone to enjoy yoga. A portion of each class, or punch card that you buy goes towards Vision Programming – which is providing classes to people in Victoria who are otherwise unable to afford to participate. Examples of these classes are Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Yoga for Mental Health and Pre- and Postnatal classes for single mums. This is what yoga is all about !!!!
My Classes:
Tuesdays 9:00am -10:15am –Therapeutic Yoga This is a particularly effective practice for those recovering from, or living with, injury or illness. Therapeutic Yoga blends restorative yoga (supported postures), gentle yoga, breathwork, hands-on healing, and guided meditation techniques combined in such a way that it is an excellent choice for those who need something gentle yet effective for bringing the body into balance and reducing stress.
Thursdays 12 noon – 1:15pm – Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa cultivates awareness through connecting flowing movement in the body with conscious breathing. There is an active portion of this class designed to build heat and stimulate blood flow to the muscles, tissues and organs followed by cooling poses to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. This combination leaves you feeling strengthening, energized, refreshed and peaceful. Students gain strength and flexibility at their own pace, with safety and alignment a key focus.
Saturdays 12:15 – 1:30pm Yin Yang Class This class draws upon the doctrine of the five elements and the principle of yin and yang, and energy meridian lines used in Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Designed to offer the balancing effects of yin (passive) and yang (active) styles of yoga. This class draws upon the more internal, quiet and longer held postures, balanced with the more active, moving and dynamic or heat producing yoga postures to create a holistic body experience.
